Not only was it inconvenient, but it also meant tracking dirt and clutter straight into the living area. The homeowner wanted functionality, but without sacrificing the beautiful backyard views from inside.

To maintain the open sightlines and keep the airy feel, we avoided traditional floor-to-ceiling walls. Instead, we constructed pony walls (half-height walls) that define the space without closing it in.
