Meet Tim – The Original DIY Guy

Turning a Passion Into a Purpose

Hi, I’m Tim—and I’ll admit it… I’ve always been obsessed with improving spaces.

What started as constantly working on my own house eventually turned into helping friends, family, and neighbors with theirs too. Over the years, I realized I wasn’t just passionate about building things—I genuinely enjoyed helping people make their homes more functional, more personalized, and better suited for how they actually live.

From custom built-ins and accent walls to laundry room upgrades, trim work, repairs, storage solutions, and outdoor projects, I’ve always been drawn to the kind of projects that completely change how a space feels without requiring a massive renovation.

And honestly? Those are often the projects homeowners struggle the most to find reliable help for.

Too big for a handyman. Too small for a large contractor. Too important to trust to just anyone.

That’s where DIY Guys was born.

I wanted to build a company focused on the small to mid-sized home projects that most contractors overlook—but that homeowners care deeply about. The projects that improve everyday life. The ones that add function, organization, comfort, and personality to a home.Even now, I still walk into homes and immediately start seeing possibilities:

  • “Built-in storage would work perfectly there.”
  • “That laundry room could function so much better.”
  • “This space just needs the right finishing touches.”

That mindset is what drives every project we take on.

From Hobby to Business: The Growth of DIY GUYS

As the projects grew, so did the vision.

Over the years, I worked with plenty of contractors—some great, some not so great—and one thing always stood out: homeowners often felt left out of the process. Communication was poor, expectations weren’t clear, and smaller projects were treated like they didn’t matter.

We wanted to create something different.

At DIY Guys, we focus on delivering a better experience from start to finish. That means clear communication, collaborative planning, honest recommendations, and quality craftsmanship without the headaches homeowners often expect during home projects.

Today, we help homeowners across the Triangle tackle projects like:

  • Custom built-ins & storage solutions
  • Laundry room & mudroom upgrades
  • Trim, molding, & finish carpentry
  • Accent walls & feature installations
  • Door replacements & custom installs
  • Outdoor living improvements
  • Repairs, refreshes, & functional upgrades

Our goal is simple: help homeowners improve the spaces they use every day with solutions that feel custom, practical, and professionally done.

Teaming Up With Matt

As DIY Guys continued growing, Matt joined the team to help expand the vision and improve the overall client experience.

Together, we’ve focused on building a company that combines craftsmanship with communication—making it easier for homeowners to move projects from idea to reality without feeling overwhelmed by the process.

What started as a passion for home improvement has grown into a trusted local business helping homeowners throughout the Triangle complete projects that make a real impact on their homes.

At the end of the day, we still approach every project the same way we always have:

  • Treat people honestly.
  • Do quality work.
  • Communicate clearly.

And care about the finished product like it’s our own home.
